Govt delists Kaspersky software from preinstalled programs

MOSCOW, Dec 30 (PRIME) -- The Russian government has excluded anti-virus solution Kaspersky Internet Security from the list of programs to be preinstalled on the computers and laptops sold in the country in 2022, according to the ruling released on Thursday.

“The item on Kaspersky Internet Security of section II of the list of the programs for electronic computing machines, whose countries of origin are the Russian Federation or other states members of the Eurasian Economic Union, which are to be pre-installed on some types of technically sophisticated goods in 2022 set by a government ruling of the Russian Federation dated July 31, 2021…is to be excluded,” the document read.

The country has banned the sale of some types of technically sophisticated goods without the preinstalled software programs set by the government since April 1.
